Safe Earth Bike Ride marks green drive
Kondapur: A Safe Earth Bike Ride was organised jointly by the Telangana forest department and Biking Community of India as part of Haritha Haram programme near Botanical Garden. The managing director of the State Forest Development Corporation Raghuveer was the chief guest at the rally in which about 100 bike riders participated with enthusiasm.
Raghuveer lauded the Save Earth Programme on the environment taken up by the Biking Community and Road Thrills for planting saplings. He described the Telangana Haritha Haram as the third biggest such programme in the world. He assured to provide geo-tagging to every sapling planted by the Biking Community and take steps for their protection. The rally passed through Basaraghadi in the Goudavelli forest area.
There the rallyists planted saplings. Some participants said they were taking up tree plantation during the bike rally as there was a need for protecting the environment. They stated that there were 400 bike riding clubs across the country and that 10,000 bike riders would take up the Save Earth Rides for planting saplings in 150 towns. About 100 bike riders would en route to Basarghadi during the day would plant 250 saplings.
Surya Teja, mentor, Biking Community of India, Ravi Kumar, Road Thrills member, and the officials of forest department attended the programme.
