Satyarthi trust bats for rape-free India
Hyderabad: "Will call upon national and international NGOs and organise conferences and will make India rape free. It is our responsibility to safeguard the child and women in the society, let's stand for new India and rape free India," said Om Prakash, Regional Director, Kailash Satyarthi Foundation. He was speaking to the media here on Tuesday.
Demanding a budgeted national action plan to make a rape free India, 'Rape Mukt Bharat' is a campaign initiated by Satyarthi Foundation, 10% allocation for child protection in union budget is the prominent demand for initiating this programme. This campaign also promotes a demand of suspension of accused political leader from the party as an immediate action.
To discuss on the strategies adopted for the campaign, NGOs from several districts of Telangana, delegates and other activists has come together to stand for 'Rape Mukt Bharat' in Somajiguda on Tuesday.
"Rape in India is a national emergency. Despite strong legislation, our children and women are living with fear. The absence of political will, lack of accountability and collective social responsibility to combat rape is dismal. Through the power that we hold in our vote, we must demand that those who seek our vote must commit to creating a new India, to make a rape free India" said Jeevan Kumar, General Secretary, Human Rights Forum.
"I am very happy to join this rape free India conference here today, talking on the same, we are always being dependant on the political parties as they are the race horses in power, particularly in the matter of child and women safety in society, it is different now. Many organisations have been formed and I am very happy that many NGOs took up this issue and striving for the women safety and eradicating rapes in society.

Being furious over untoward incidents, "India is being represented as raping country, why such perversion? Why India turing pervert? Why politicians do support such perverts? 2-years babe is being raped by 70 years and the political parties do support them, Why?" questioned Mamtha Reddy, Technical Assistant for Women Welfare.
