Save education: Close schools last & reopen first: TRSMA
Hyderabad: The education sector is in great danger due to Covid, save education - close schools last and reopen first, pointed out members of the Telangana Recognised School Management Association (TRSMA) at a press conference on Tuesday.
A vacuum is formed among the educational institutions and the students increasing the learning gap. Frist before closing schools, the State government should shut down pubs, wine shops and also curb the movement of people at railway station and bus-stands. Always, whenever there is a rise in Covid cases, the government takes decision of closing down schools, said Yadagiri Shekar Rao, president, Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA).
For the last six months there has been a false propaganda that the third wave will infect children. The government has decided to extend the holiday till the end of January. The children were confined to homes for the past two years.
What is learned in the past is forgotten and there is a lot of confusion, students are not yet clear with the concepts in many subjects, said a member of TRSMA.
"There is no doubt that the closure of other sectors will only cause business and economic loss, but the damage to education sector will soon have a detrimental effect on future generations, said another member of TRSMA. It will be better if the government take a decision of reopening schools form the first week of February and until then online classes must be held. Also, the academic year should be extended to May. Even if the government decides to extend holidays further or close schools even after January 30, TRSMA schools will be reopened with the help of parents, intellectuals and educators and classes will be held physically for all standards, said Ramana Rao, Treasurer, TRSMA.
