SCR hailed for good passenger amenities
Hyderabad: P K Krishna Das, the Chairman of Passenger Amenities Committee, along with committee members G Premendar Reddy, C Ravindran and Kaku Vijayalaxmi, met Gajanan Mallya, the General Manager of SCR, on Friday.
Das complimented the SCR authorities for maintaining high standards of cleanliness at Kacheguda, Hyderabad and Secunderabad railway stations. He also stated that status of the cleanliness at railway stations was matching the ideals of Swachh Bharat program initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The committee members suggested provision of scanners at Secunderabad parcel office to ensure safety, and baby feeding rooms at Hyderabad railway station, provision of more lady constables to strengthen the security at the stations.
Gajanan Mallya briefed the committee on various development activities related to passenger amenities in the zone, such as provision of escalators, lifts, heightening of platforms, improving lightening in the stations, provision of free Wi-fi in all stations and maintenance of highest cleanliness standards. SCR was focused on Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat mission to ensure passenger-friendly trains.
He also stated that SCR was 100% LED lit zone and was saving around RS 7 crore a year. The zone provided free Wi-fi facility at over 200 stations and was planning to extend Wi-fi facility to 700 stations in the current year. The zone was also focusing on new line projects, doubling and tripling to provide more passenger services, he added.
