Secunderabad Cantonment Board awareness drive for new voters concludes
Secunderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) organised a voting awareness drive to sensitise first-time voters by using the electronic voting machines (EVM). SCB officials started this drive at various colleges in the SCB area including Kasturba Gandhi College for Women, Mahboob College, Wesley Degree and PG college, University of Postgraduate College and RGR Siddhanthi Degree College.
This drive started in the first week of March and concluded on March 28. The models of EVMs and ballot paper and posters were displayed in various colleges. Apart from this, the new voters availed of information about EVMs, electoral rolls and how to register their names, as directed by Parshuram, coordinating officer of SCB.
Parshuram said that they organised various stage plays on the right to vote and also mock voting was held in various colleges to demonstrate to the new voters so that they do not miss their franchise for any reason.
The SCB official further added that feeding application over an electoral roll is already published and as they have distributed 12,000 EPIC cards. There is increase of 10-15% in total voters in the SCB with the registration of new voters in the list.
