Selected teachers lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan
Begumpet: Demanding immediate posting orders, thousands of candidates who were selected through TRT exam lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's official residence, here on Thursday. Selected candidates for teacher posts across the state gathered before Pragathi Bhavan from 8 am in the morning. Tension prevailed as police arrested them and shifted to Goshamahal police station.
R Krishnaiah, former MLA and national president of BC welfare association who reached the spot to extend his support to protestors, called the delay in giving postings to the selected candidates as grave injustice them.
Lauding various schemes introduced by the new Chief Minister of AP Jagan Mohan Reddy for the development of education in AP, Krishnaiah alleged that the Telangana state government on the other hand has closed 4,600 schools and not recruited 50,000 vacant teacher posts so far, causing a lot of damage to education field in the state.
He ridiculed the state government for spending crores of rupees on distributing sheep and fish, instead of spending on education. He criticised the state government for not responding to the concerns of the selected candidates.
While Telangana youth fought for Telangana expecting 'job for each house', TRS government failed to provide 'a job for each village, he commented. He demanded the state government to fill 2 lakh vacant posts in various government departments and warned that a movement against the government would be initiated if the recruitments are not taken up.
Later, he spoke to the Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy over mobile phone and questioned him on the delay in issuing postings to the selected candidates. Krishnaiah said that the Minister informed him that posting could not be given due to the election code and assured him that postings would be given as soon as possible. BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Venkatesh, Ramakrishna, Anji, Barkha Krishna, G Krishna Yadav, Naresh Goud and others participated in the protest.
