Serilingampally: Mobility aids gifted to disabled
Serilingampally: Local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi handed over mobility adaptive equipment to disabled persons as part of the 'Vikalangula Karya Sankalpam' programme held at GHMC Ambedkar Kalyana Mandapam on Thursday. Corporators Saibaba, Ragam Nagender Yadav, Meka Ramesh, Jagdishwar Goud and Navatha Reddy, besides project officers Vatsala Devi and Geeta participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA laid stress on giving equal opportunities to the differently abled, as they have extraordinary abilities. He advised them to keep behind their disabilities and strive to come up in life with determination and self-drive, after recognising their abilities and inspire others.
Gandhi listed various welfare schemes being implemented by the TRS government for the benefit of the disabled like pensions, scholarships, subsidised loans, marriage incentives, provision of prosthetics like artificial limbs.
He called for the GHMC providing skill improvement training facilities to the disabled, while advising them to avail of the benefits provided at Sadaram camps where disability certificates were being given.
The MLA distributed wheelchairs, crutches, arm sticks, handsticks, walkers to differently abled of Chandanagar circle. He also distributed bank loan sanction letters to Vasanth Thrift Group (Rs.3 lakh) and Shirdi Sai Disabled Thrift Group (Rs.1.5 lakh), besides tiffin boxes and prizes to each person.
Gandhi complimented a physically challenged woman, Pushpalata, who secured a job in the Revenue department. Her efforts should be taken as inspiration by everyone to achieve success, he stated.
Among those present included TRS leaders Sanjiva Reddy, Uppalapati Srikanth, Nayi Neni Chandrakanth Rao, Goutham Goud, B S N Kiran Yadav and Allam Mahesh.
