Several colonies faced with sewage overflow

Kondapur: People have been suffering due to overflowing sewerage at several areas for the past several days, but the GHMC officials seem least bothered to heed their pleas.

Expressing ire at official negligence, several persons said it is regrettable that no official has so far bestowed attention on the problems. "Are GHMC officials and people's representatives blind to the issue?" they questioned. Though repeated representations were submitted to respective MLAs and corporators, no efforts are made yet to improve the situation.

Sharadha, a resident of Kondapur, pointed out that at least one person in every house in their colony has fallen sick because of overflowing sewage in front of their houses day and night. The dirty water flow is resulting in many viral diseases, "Yet, no officer has bothered to visit the colony for taking remedial steps," she added.

The residents fear outbreak of diseases like dengue, malaria and typhoid. Locals renewed their appeal to officials and public representatives to pay attention to their problems at least now and recognise the existence of the colony and its residents and to rescue them from the issues.

The complete road gets filled up with drainage water says Ashish, a resident of Kothagudem, Gachibowli area. There is an unpleasant smell that is troubling us, drain water remains stagnant on the roads and causes inconvenience for the commuters and motorists. The water has been remained stagnant here for the past one month, he added.

The residents of Sriramnagar Colony, SR Nagar, are vexed over the overflow of sewage water for past 3 weeks. "Overflowing of drain water has become routine over here and the entire lane has turned into a pool of sewage water," said Surya, a resident of the area. At least now, officials concerned should take immediate action and repair the drainage system in the areas, urge the locals.
