Vanasthalipuram: Overflowing sewage and contamination of drinking water is posing a serious health hazard to residents of Gandhinagar Road no 2, Vanasthalipuram. Residents are forced to endure stagnant pools while commuting by the road. People residing nearby complain about the foul smell of sewage water.

The locals say they made repeated representations to the civic authorities to re-construct the sewage network and resolve the issue but no action has been taken till date. "The stagnated sewage serves as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes. As mosquito menace has increased to alarming proportions, most of us keep our windows and doors closed," says a resident.

"It is very common to see sewage stagnating on the road now and kids and working people have to jump over it and go this is because of poor construction of sewage chambers and frequent blockage in the pipeline," said a local resident.
