Kapra: Local residents and road-users are experiencing hardship following regular leak of drainage/sewerage from manholes, particularly in front of Sri Sairatna Hotel at ECIL Crossroads. They are daily complaining of untold agony being experiencing while using the road.

The residents told The Hans India that officials concerned and the hotel management were adopting a negligent attitude to solve the problem despite several representations and requests. They also complained about drainage/sewerage overflowing on the roads in Kushaiguda, Kamalasainagar, Jimmiguda, Housing Board and other areas, attributing the problem to decades-old drainage set-up to meet the needs of the growing population.

The residents stated that lack of supervision on the newly-laid drains was only adding to the problem of foul smell. According to them, such unhygienic conditions were causing severe health problems to local people. Improper drainage work was also adding to their woes. They wanted officials concerned to at least now to order cleaning of the drainage/open nalas to bring relief to people.

When THI took the issues to the notice of Kapra AMHO Dr Maitreyi, she said steps were being taken to solve the residents' drainage problems. 'As soon as a complaint is received air-tech vehicles are being deployed. The staff is being alerted not to neglect the issue of drainage problems in colonies. Maitreyi urged residents of colonies to bring to her notice the problem of overflowing drains.
