SIT probe into drug abuse an eye wash
Musheerabad: The Telugu Desam Party Medchal district unit on Wednesday alleged that the SIT inquiry into the drug abuse case was only 'notional' and it was burying truth.
At a press conference, TDP leader P Saibaba and Nallela Kishore claimed that Akun Sabarwal as Excise Commissioner had worked efficiently and would have exposed the drug abuse among students, film actors, software employees.
But he was shifted and the SIT enquiry was entrusted to a department CI. The leaders pointed out that the SIT during the last two years had reduced the cases to four from 12 and registered cases against the drug suppliers while sparing those who used them.
They alleged that the State government had watered down the cases by subjecting impartial officers to pressure and transferring them. The leaders demanded release of the SIT inquiry report.
They warned that the party was prepared to approach court if the government was adamant and failed to punish both the drug suppliers and users. Among those present at the press conference were TDP leaders Ramakrishna, M Madhukar, Ravinder Chary, N Ganesh, M Raju, S Prakash.
