Sizzling summer: GHMC makes appeal to citizens

In view of the prevailing severe hot wave conditions in the city, the Commissioner of GHMC, Dana Kishore, has appealed to the citizens to take adequate preventive measures and not venture out during heat wave, unless it is inevitable
Precautions:
- Regular intake of drinking water and while going out carry water
- Drink lime water / Coconut water
- Wear light color and thin clothes which allows air to flow.
- Wear cap /Cover with towel on the head.
- Take Butter milk / Glucose water /
- Prepare ORS liquid by mixing little salt – little sugar in glass water to get immediate relief from sun stroke.
- Keep the effected person in shadow and cool place.
- During summer generally body heat increase, rub the body with the wet cloth till the body heat comes to normal.
- Take special care for small children, pregnant women, elderly persons etc
- Take the sun stroke-affected person to the nearest hospital, if not recovered even after given fist aid
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
- Do not go out in hot summer
- Do not wear dark/contrast color cloths.
- Do not take tea/coffee during heat wave
- Do not venture to hot places
- Do not work continuously in sun, take rest at regular intervals.
- Do not eat unhygienic or spoiled food – they may cause diarrhoea
- Do not allow small children, old people inside parked car which is exposed to sun, for long periods
- Do not stay in the sun for long period without any protection on the head
- Do not delay in taking the effected person to the nearest hospital
