The ongoing pandemic has been a testing time for all of us. While many lost their jobs leading to the financial crisis, those from the lower income families are amongst the most affected.

During these unprecedented times, not only philanthropic organisations, even celebrities and well-known personalities are rendering service to the needy. One who emerged the tallest among them and has even a temple for him in Telangana is actor Sonu Sood, the 'Yahoo Hero of the year 2020.' In the past few months, he has become a real-life hero for thousands of people across the nation. He is actively involved in helping people impacted by the lockdown.

Sonu Sood also reaches out to the needy in our city, the NGO Sri Rajamatha Foundation which is run by a group of students. The NGO has saved lives of more than 200 people.

Speaking to The Hans India, Uday Kumar Reddy, founder of Sri Rajamatha Foundation, said, "Since we are a students group, we get no help from government for funds. We we contribute ourselves money, clothes, foods and other items. During the pandemic it was difficult for us to raise funds for those who were in need of aid for their treatment. We got in touch with Sonu Sood and he has since been a great source of help."

Uday and his twin Manoj Reddy met the actor during the shooting of the Tollywood movie Alludu Adhurs. "We spoke to his PA about our cause and wanted to meet the actor for the same. He was kind enough to let us in and generous to help us out. We discussed with him about the activities we have been working on since the inception of our foundation. We contact him only for emergency cases after doing proper verification of the case, whether beneficiaries are genuine or not. He would arrange the amount for the treatment from his side. He also shared about the cases in his social media handles, which was a huge support for us," adds Uday.

Sonu Sood often raises funds for the NGO and tweets the problems of the needy who approach it, so that other like-minded people get to contribute towards a good cause.

Amongst those benefited by the NGO was Niharika, 14, whose liver transplant cost was borne by the actor. Thanking the actor and the NGO, Niharika said, "We are full of gratitude towards Sonu Sood and the founders of the organisation for helping us the most in such a crisis."
