South Central Railway handles record no. of passengers
Secunderabad: The South Central Railway handled a record number of passengers during this summer season. Special trains were introduced with augmentation of additional coaches was made to clear the huge additional rush of passengers with the onset of summer season and general elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.
The number of passengers travelled from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda and Lingampalli stations in the twin cities has increased significantly. The Secunderabad Railway Station recorded 96,000 unreserved passengers and 28,000 reserved passengers totalling 1,24,000 passengers travelled on Wednesday, which is the second highest passenger turnout in the history of the station.
A record number of 2,41,046 unreserved passengers and 97, 512 reserved passengers totaling 3,38,558 passengers travelled from Secunderabad Railway Station to various destinations on April 8-10. During the same period, 52,785 unreserved passengers & 17,446 reserved passengers totalling 70,231 passengers travelled from the Hyderabad Railway Station.
As many as 79,596 unreserved passengers and 5,786 reserved passengers totaling to 85, 382 travelled from Lingampalli Railway Station and 59,560 unreserved passengers and 4,817 reserved passengers totaling to 64, 377 passengers travelled from the Kacheguda Railway Station.
Totally, 4, 32,987 unreserved passengers and 1, 25, 561 reserved passengers totaling to 5, 58, 548 passengers travelled to their respective destinations from the four important railway stations of the city.
South Central Railway ran 23 special trains besides 151 regular trains per day to various destinations.
