South Central Railway launches Swachhata drive at Railway Stations

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) launched the 'Swachhata hi Seva' campaign at Kacheguda Railway station here on Wednesday. Taking cue from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's call to eliminate use of single use plastic in this country, the SCR undertook several activities at Kacheguda and even at Secunderabad station.

The Ministry of Railways issued instructions on banning single use plastic material. All vendors were told to avoid use of plastic carry bags. Officials were directed to install plastic bottle crushing machines at all Railway stations in a phased manner.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR launched the 'Swachhata hi Seva' campaign at Kacheguda Railway Station and Anand Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division administered a pledge to the Railway officials, staff & passengers and also participated in 'Shramdaan' to mark the Swachhata campaign. Later, the Officials took part in a rally to create awareness among the general public. The Swachhata hi Seva campaign will go on till October 2.
