Speed up process to open model markets

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore has directed Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to make model markets available in Greater Hyderabad to the residents as soon as possible. He was holding a video conference on various topics with the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners on Monday morning.

• GHMC built 43 model markets for use by urban dwellers

• Zonal Commissioners to attend to the issue immediately

• Muted response to tenders to open 38 more open gyms 

The Commissioner said that the GHMC had taken up 43 model markets to make urban dwellers more comfortable in Hyderabad; most of these markets are being brought into use due to minor reasons even after the construction is completed. Zonal Commissioners were ordered to immediately inspect the markets and take suitable measures to make them to the start.

The model markets would be allocated by the district collectors as per selecting the lists of beneficiaries by the district and cooperative institutions on the basis of SC and ST reservations.

Upkeep of gyms

The Commissioner asked authorities to maintain proper standards at open gyms which have been set up by GHMC in various parks in the city that are being fully utilised by urban residents.

.Officials explained that there was no response for the proposal to their call for the tenders to open other 38 open gyms in Greater limits. Dana Kishore said that open gym management is very effective in New Delhi and Bangalore cities and he also suggested to review the rules and standards of their management and to set up same in Hyderabad.

The deputy and the zonal commissioners were also told that the existing open gyms should be regularly inspected. In this connection, Dana Kishore referred to the negative news reports about management of the open gym at KBR park.

The Commissioner said that the special court will be holding a session this week to settle the cases of court cases of various departments in the GHMC. Specifically, there are a large number of cases related to the town planning department.
