Musheerabad: The 96th jayanti of former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao (NTR) was celebrated by the Telugu Desam Party in its Hyderabad district office. The TDP leaders attended the flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremonies. They paid floral tributes to NTR's portrait.

A TDP leader Saibaba, who cut the cake, expressed displeasure over the HMDA and GHMC for failing to give due respect to the former Chief Minister at NTR Ghat. He told the gathering that NTR had brought political awakening among the weaker sections, gave property share to women and provided Rs 2 a kg rice to the poor. 'NTR took these welfare measures for the benefit of Telugu people and not Andhras.
