Striking RTC protesters organise Vanta Vaarpu
Jubilee Bus Station: TSRTC employees' strike, which entered 18th day on Tuesday, has been escalating and all-party leaders organised a 'Vanta Vaarpu', a form of protest by cooking food on the streets and eating community lunch, in support of the RTC strike.
The TSRTC employees' JAC, along with several political parties leaders conducted the programme at the Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) in Secunderabad. On the other hand, the commuters were facing severe problems due to the shortage of buses.
As part of the strike, the RTC employees reached the Karimnagar bus station early in the morning and held a dharna before the bus depot at 5 am and started protesting.
A bus mirror was broken when an unidentified man threw stones at the RTC rental bus in the parking lot. The RTC employees requested the temporary drivers and conductors not to start the buses and to support their strike and prevented the buses from getting out in the early morning.
Police made several attempts to disperse the protesting employees near the bus stop and also took some of the JAC leaders into custody. The RTC employees have intensified protests all over the State.
