Masab Tank: BC college students laid siege to Hyderabad district BC welfare office here on Wednesday, demanding more hostel seats. A large number of students stormed into the office and staged protest and refused to leave until their demands were met.

The protesting students said that they were unable to attend classes although classes started three months ago as they could not get hostel accommodation. Tension prevailed on the office premises as angry students demanded that officials provide them with hostel accommodation.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of BC Sangarshana Samithi, Narsimha Goud, said that most of the college-going students were unable to attend classes as they did not get seats in government hostels. Especially, students from far-off rural areas were finding it very difficult to continue their studies. He demanded that the officials to take extra buildings on lease to run hostels.

He also alleged that basic facilities were not provided at the BC hostels and only three workers were appointed for a hostel with 200 students. He demanded sanction of more hostels and filling up of all vacant posts in hostels. BC student leaders Mahender Goud, Suresh, Pallavi, Anitha and others participated in the protest.
