Students stage half-naked protest for RTC cause

Osmania University: Members of TSU, AISF, SFI and PDSU on Wednesday staged a 'half-naked' protest near Arts College after taking out a rally protesting against the policies of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), which did not yield the expected jobs and remunerative prices to farmers. They focused on the plight of striking RTC employees and deaths of Intermediate students.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders Krishna Madiga (TSU), RN Shankar (AISF), Kampally Srinu of AISF, Ravi (SFI) and Dubba Ranjith (PDSU) pointed out that people hoped that their lives would become bright following the formation of Telangana. But sadly, instead of 'Bangaru Telangana,' the state has become a 'Samadula Telangana,' they remarked, expressing anguish.

The students alleged that KCR is acting "as a successor to the Nizam" in the dictatorial rule, while pledging to organise strong agitations, with OU as the centre, in support of the RTC strike. They appealed to the strikers not to commit suicide and secure their demands through struggles.

The leaders warned of attacks against ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Erraballi Dayakar Rao and Puvvada Ajay, whom they described as "traitors of Telangana agitation," if they indulged in "senseless talks." They urged teachers and employees' organisations of the state to take up struggles in support of RTC strike.

The students called for "Quit KCR" agitation on the lines of the 'Sakula Janula Samme,' organised during the separate Telangana agitation. They questioned what the state Governor was doing when workers were waging a struggle.
