Surge in viral fever cases

Malkajgiri: Malkajgiri Government Hospital is witnessing a surge in the number of outpatients, with children topping the charts. G Raju, superintendent at Malkajgiri Government Hospital, said that the 50-bed hospital has been witnessing 30 to 50 children every day for the past one week. The age of the children coming to the hospital is mostly below 12 years.

"The hospital has only six beds reserved for children, but still we have admitted eight patients in the IP ward. We had to send back mildly-affected cases home after attending them," said Raju.

It might be noted that in a press meet held recently, Health Minister Eatala Rajender instructed the GHMC officials, and DMHOs of Medak, Ranga Reddy, Medchal and Sangareddy DM&HOs to ensure regular fogging and spraying at vulnerable places, to take timely treatment of water and vector-borne disease affected persons and to take special drives on sanitation in order to control the spread of seasonal diseases.
