Sustainable Development Goals key to peace and prosperity in society

Khairatabad: The Chairman for AP and Telangana states for Gandhi Global Family, Dr Gunna Rajender Reddy, said on Tuesday that UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were key to establishing peace in every society.

Addressing the media, Rajender Reddy said that strong efforts were being made across the world to realize 17 SDGs. As part of these efforts in Telangana and AP states, Gandhi Global Family societies have been conducting several programs to raise awareness on the importance of SDGs for establishment of peaceful and progressive society.

On Sunday, Gandhi Global Family organized a national conference on 'Sustainable Development Goals – 2030' at Academic Staff College, Khairatabad, to discuss measures to be taken to realize SDGs in Telugu states, he said. Noted environmentalist Professor K Purushottam, the chairman of Telangana Academy of Sciences, Professor Katta Narsimha Reddy, ASC chairman Dr Padmanabaiah, Professor Bhagyanarayana participated in the conference.

Speakers at the conference emphasised the need for implementation of SDGs for establishment of peaceful and progressive society. In order to realise the 17 goals, a team of 50 members comprising VCs of universities, professors, scientists, researchers, social activists and experts in various fields would give suggestions, guidelines and ways to implement SDGs, Rajender Reddy said. Secretary of the society T Purushottam Reddy, Y Prabhakar Reddy, Ismail, Ramanjaneyulu and others were present.
