Swachh Pakhwada held at railway stations

Nampally: The South Central Railway (SCR) GM, Gajanam Mallaiah said that several cleanliness initiatives have been taken up at Nampally station as part of Swachh Pakhwada programme, a cleanliness initiative promoted by PM Narendra Mody.

Apart from maintaining cleanliness at the railway station, several measures such as tree plantation, distribution of non-plastic bags and other programmes were taken up at the railway station, he said.

As part of the programme, garbage and waste have been cleared from the railway station in the last three weeks, he said. Saplings were brought from 18 different nurseries for plantation at all the railway stations under SCR limits.

To protect air pollution, SCR introduced non-diesel train in its division, he said. Mallaiah announced ban of plastic covers below 50 microns in all railway stations and urged railway passengers to cooperate with Railways in implementing the policy.
