Telangana State cultural complex in state of utter neglect

Kondapur: The cultural complex which is popularly known as the Telangana Samskruthika Saradhi needs attention of GHMC for maintenance. The cultural hall which can accommodate 300 people is left unutilised for three months as the government events are hardly happening in the state. The cultural complex is on the compound of State Art Gallery, which is used by several artists across Telangana for the purpose of rehearsals to participate in the government events observes untidy surroundings.

Speaking on the issue, Narsimha, Administration Officer, State Art Gallery, said, "We lack funds to maintain big halls and overall surroundings. With limited funds, we are utilising the limited space in the gallery. To maintain the cultural complex, funds are not sufficient."

Explaining about the unattended garbage and tree branches laid on either sides of the walk path he, said, "To develop and improve ambience, we chopped a few trees which are excessively grown and also excess of trees presenting a forest outlook. HMDA promised to clean the cutoff branches after they dried, but now they are seeking Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per trip to carry away the trees, and the decision is yet to be taken on their demand. Possibly, in a matter of two weeks we will settle things right." There are several events queued up, and for the same development and improvement works are in process and further plans are yet to be materialise, he added.

The State Art Gallery which was built by the government, but it is now not funded by the government and the staff including administration officer, security, technical and electrical wings, are outsourcing employees. The maintenance charges, water bill, electricity bill and other expenses are met with the rent amounts charged for the events. "The cultural complex is hardly utilised as the hall is quite large. Unless there is a large crowd coming for any event, we cannot use it, and a majority of programmes are held in the gallery and auditorium," say the officials.
