Telangana Working Journalists Federation state-level meet to be held on Dec 29

Musheerabad: Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TUWJ) state committee has decided to hold its second state level convention in Hyderabad on December 29. This was decided at the state executive meeting held here on Thursday. Federation state president Mamidi Somaiah and general secretary B Basava Punnaiah announced about it to media after the meeting.

Speaking to media, Mamidi Somaiah said that the meeting had resolved to complete all the district meetings by December 15 and conduct state level convention on December 29. A rally of hundreds of journalists coming from various districts of the State would be held during the convention, he said.

The meeting discussed about various long-pending issues of journalists such as houses and plots to journalists, issue of accreditation cards and health cards, he said. Future course of action on the long-pending issues would be finalised at the state level convention, he said.

The meeting also condemned unannounced restrictions by the state government on media and demanded the government to withdraw such measures. The meeting also expressed solidarity with AP Working Journalists Federation which has been fighting against the recently issued GO no. 2430 and demanded that the AP government withdraw the GO.

The meeting also appealed to the Collectors of Mahbubnagar, Kamareddy, and other districts for proper implementation of GO No. 279 for issuing accreditations to journalists working in those districts.
