Ten youth land jobs at 24-hr hackathon
Gachibowli: The Hack2Hire - 24hour hackathon event organised by Invesco Ltd spotted technology talent and hired them from tier 1 & 2 engineering colleges across India. Students from BITS-Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, JNTU Hyderabad, GNITS, CBIT, Chitakara University and Kalinga University participated in it.
Around 20 students were short-listed and 10 were presented jobs offers at the event and the remaining will be evaluated in the coming weeks. The initiative is part of global Invesco Technology Associates Programme (iTAP) aimed at recruiting small cohorts of highly skilled technology graduates and build strategic partnerships with top colleges and universities to create a talent pipeline.
"Through this Hack2Hire initiative, we infused our organisation with more ideas, increased collaboration, opportunities for learning, and talent mobility," said Donie Lochan, MD, Chief Technology Officer.
The journey started with more than 600 engineering students from different colleges pan-India attempted the online assessment test in September. Fifty two students were shortlisted and participated in the 24hr. hackathon event conducted at Invesco's Hyderabad office.
What was the task?
An investment services case study was given to the hack teams to develop a technology solution for financial planning. It was a great experience for students to interact with subject matter experts and leaders, and they got an opportunity to experience Invesco culture.
