Hydernagar: State BJP official representative Dr K Naresh and State Executive Committee Member Jnanendra Prasad on Tuesday described Balagandadhar Tilak as a 'great man who led a simple life'.

They were speaking at Tilak's birth anniversary celebrations organised in Hydernagar division. Both leaders garlanded Tilak's portrait, while lauding his services for paving a new path for national agitation with the involvement of common people.

The two leaders stated that Tilak was also viewed as the main fighter against the British because of which he was given the title of 'Lokamanya.' Although he joined the Congress in 1890, Tilak felt that fighting for Swaraj was the right move, after losing faith in the Congress politics.

Among those present were assembly constituency co-convener Veerachary, BJYM State leader Arun Kumar, BJP division president M K Dev, Manibushan, Yuva Morcha constituency convener Jithendar, Rana Pratap, Yellesh and Deepak.
