Traders warned against supply of spurious seeds

Cyberabad: Police Commissioner of Cyberabad VC Sajjanar said that stern action would be taken against those who are involved in spurious seeds. He was speaking at a meeting held with agriculture officers, SOT, taskforce and law and order police staff here at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Tuesday.

Addressing the officials, he said that the farmer who provides food to the society is passing through the difficult times and several farmers are committing suicides because of spurious seeds. He said that those who deceive farmers needed to be treated as anti-nationals.

Stringent action would be taken against manufacturers, businessmen and agents who deceive farmers by supplying spurious seeds, he said. Such people would be identified, and cases would be filed against them under PD Act, he warned.

He appealed farmers to be alert and not to get deceived by such fraudsters. He urged fertiliser and seed shop owners to operate their business under the stipulated government norms and provide quality seeds and fertilisers to farmers.

Sajjanar urged farmers to purchase seeds only from the seed dealers and take bills for their purchase. He appealed farmers not to buy seeds and fertilisers from unknown persons coming from other regions.

Farmers should buy seeds and fertilisers only from those businessmen who are certified by agriculture department, he said. Farmers can contact nearby police station, local agriculture officials or police commissioner whatsapp number 9490617444 or dial 100 in case of any cheating or complaint regarding seeds, he said.
