Patancheru: Telangana BJP 'Vimochana Udyama' Committee Chairman Varshan Reddy on Sunday demanded official celebration of the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17.

Addressing a press conference in Muthangi, he stated that the party would organise a public meeting in Patancheru on September 17 to mark the State-level Telangana Liberation Day celebrations to be attended by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, MPs, MLAs and other important leaders. He called upon prominent Telangana protagonists to attend the meeting.

Reddy hit out at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for letting down people of the State after promising to celebrate the Liberation Day officially before the formation of Telangana.

"But, after coming to power KCR has changed and he is behaving like a Nizam," Reddy alleged. He accused the Nizam of killing many Telangana agitators after they tried to hoist the flag, and expressed regret for KCR describing Nizam as a 'Maha Prabhu.'

He asserted that if the BJP came to power in Telangana, it would officially celebrate the Liberation Day, while calling for hoisting of the national flag in every village across the State.

Among those present were BJP National Council member Kovuri Sangameshwar, State Executive Member Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Sangareddy district unit president Narender Reddy, senior party leader S Karunakar Reddy, besides BJP leaders and activists.
