Two cricket bookies held; 1.52 lakh seized

Afzalgunj: The Hyderabad Commissionerate North Zone Task Force sleuths on Tuesday arrested two cricket bookies. A net cash of Rs 1.52 lakh, two cell phones and other material seized from their possession.

On credible information, the sleuths conducted simultaneous raids in the limits of Afzalgunj and Sultan Bazar police stations and arrested Jhawar Venugopal and Ravi Narayan for organising and collecting cricket betting amount from punters clandestinely and gain illegal easy money.

Both the accused were collecting huge betting amounts from the agents and punters directly and indirectly during the match between India Vs Bangladesh under ICC Cricket World Cup-2019 held at England. The accused along with the seized material were handed over to the SHO's of Afzalgunj and Sultanbazar police stations for further investigation.
