Two houses collapse due to landslide
Rajendranagar: The incessant rain that lashed the city on Thursday night has triggered a landslide at a hillock area of Owaisi Hills in Rajendranagar that shoved away two houses 40 feet down to the ground.
Both the houses fell on a hardware shop, located straight down the hillock area at approach road in Shastripuram. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident, as no one was present inside the houses aloft or in the shop at the time of the incident.
Though no casualty was reported in the incident, the land slide has left two families homeless after their houses swept away in the incident. A significant damage also caused to the hardware shop, located straight down to the ground.
The debris of the collapsed houses fell on the shade from a height causing damage to the shop. Moreover, the front wall of the shop too was damaged due to the impact of the iron shade after the debris fell on it from 40 feet height.
Corporator Shastripuram Mohammed Misbahuddin visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Later, the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) also visited the site and estimated the damage caused by the landslide.
"Victims claiming the right over the damaged properties were asked to get their documents, along with Aadhaar cards, to start a process for compensation under natural calamity scheme. We will prepare a report accordingly to proceed with the case," said Sanjeev Kumar, Village Revenue Officer, Rajendranagar.
When contacted, The MRO Rajendranagar V Ramlu said, "We are looking into the matter. VRO was asked to visit the site and present a report about the extent of damage caused by the landslide. After receiving the report we will proceed accordingly."
