Unnati in-charge invited to Harvard University
Chanchalguda: Prof C Beena, who is in-charge of Unnati Programme in Telangana Prisons, has got an invitation for a discussion on prison reforms in Telangana on 24 April at Kennedy School of Governance, Harvard University. The subject of the discussion is 'reducing recidivism and crime rate through Cognitive Psychology (Unnathi).'
VK Singh, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services stated that Telangana prisons reforms have earned a great name countrywide. Now it has also crossed the borders and reached Harvard University, USA. "This is a proud moment for Telangana State that the innovations introduced in Telangana Prisons are recognised by a world class university.
The role of reformation and rehabilitation programmes has led to astounding results in reduction of the repeat offenders. The motto of Telangana Prisons is to make crime free society, empty the jails and make all the jails, educational, cultural and industrial centres, for the benefit of the society. The way the Telangana Prisons are marching forward, it is not far off when the whole world looks forward to Telangana Prisons as a beacon of Prison reforms," he noted.
