Secunderabad: Even as GHMC officials are focused on evicting hawkers and small businessmen from footpaths at Maredpally, several residents expressed concern over dwindling footpaths in the colony. Locals speaking to THI said that most of the footpaths were buried under mounds of earth, debris or waste and people find it difficult to walk on roads.

The footpaths near Kasturba Junior College, Ramsari hotel, polytechnic college and Ambedkar Nagar Colony in East Maredpally are filled with waste and debris, they said.

Footpath modernisation works initiated by GHMC on the main road of East Maredpally have been dragging for the last two years. The works were completed only in a few stretches of the road. Locals expressed their anguish over the delay in completing the modernisation works. They demanded that the GHMC officials focus on disappearing of footpaths and expedite the works.
