Vikarabad: At last, much awaiting dream of the people in the district has come true. The government announced that the district will be merged with Charminar Zone. The district was merged with Jogulamba during reorganisation of zones. Local people, organisations, employees protested the move. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao assured during the recent election campaign that the district would be merged with Charminar Zone and he kept his word.

Vikarabad was carved out of Rangaeddy in 2016 during reorganisation of districts. The district was in sixth zone along with Charminar until it was merged into Jogulamba zone.

After months of protests and rallies opposing the decision, KCR himself promised to shift the district back to old zone. This development is really good news for youth, unemployed and politicians.

As people of the district are happy over the development, political parties are trying to cash in from the situation. Former minister G Prasad Kumar said it is the victory of people and the result of agitation led by the Congress party. Former MP of Chevella K Vishweshwar Reddy termed it as a victory on autocracy.
