World Water Day celebrated at TSPCB

Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Water Day, various programmes were organised by Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB). Various programmes such as quizz, visit to water labs, and awareness programmes on water preservation were held for school students here on Friday.

As part of the event monitored by NGC protocol officer Radhika, school children were taken to the water lab in the pollution board's central laboratory and were explained about pH meters, EC (Electric condensity), turbidity motors, UVS metres and parameters of water quality.

Addressing school students, chief guest N Muralimohan explained the importance of saving water. Quoting a recent study conducted by a Chicago University, he said that about 80 countries were currently facing water scarcity and by 2025 many nations would face acute water shortage.

Stating that water was precious, he advised students not to waste water and take measures to save it. He explained different water harvesting methods and importance of percolation pits for saving water. Later, he presented prizes to school students who won various competitions conducted as part of the program.

About 150 students from 16 city schools participated in the programme. NGC protocol officer Radhika and district science officer G Prabhakar monitored the program.
