Yoga Day fete at zoo

Bahadurpura: The 5th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with gaiety and fervour at Nehru Zoological Park here on Friday. To mark the eventful day two sessions of Yoga classes were organised for the zoo staff and visitors under the guidance of Virupaksheswara Rao, a yoga guru. He demonstrated yoga asanas like Surya Namaskaram, Vruksha Asanam, Trikona Asanam, Pawanmukthasanas etc.

Curator N Kshitija, Deputy Curator Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, Deputy Director (Vet) Dr M A Hakeem, Asst Curator-1 Gynaneshwar, Asst Curtor-2 Bhavani Shanker, deputy range officers, administrative staff, animal keepers etc participated in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Kshitija said that Nehru Zoological Park was in forefront in celebrating environment-friendly programmes and awareness drives. Folding of both hands in the logo symbolises yoga, which reflects the union of individual consciousness with that of universal consciousness, a perfect harmony between mind and body, man and nature, the holistic approach to health and wellbeing, she explained.
