Young dancer's solo debut

Sahana Sundar will be presenting a Bharatanatyam Margam comprising of Pushpanjali, Alarippu, a traditional and famous varnam on Sri Venkatswara, a composition of the Violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman, a popular MuthuswamyDikshitar Kirtanam on Devi, a KilliKani and the well-known Natabhairavi thillana of Veena Krishnamachari.

Sahana's journey into the world of dance began as a 7-year-old on the day of Vijayadashami in 2008. As a student of dance in the exacting standards of Shankarananda Kalakshetra she has spent the last 10 years learning not only the grammar of dance, but also imbibing the true spirit of this fine art form.

With her Guru's guidance and blessings,Sahana has had opportunities to perform on stage as a member of ShankaranandaKalakshetra'sperforming ensemble. From performing in her first on- stage performances in 'Kavyanjali – an ode to Gurudev', and later in 'Sri The Goddess Within' and 'Nrityopahara' ; to essaying multiple roles in the recent production 'Tales from the Bull and the Tiger '; Sahana, has blossomed as a promising young dancer willing to experiment and learn.

Strong in academics as well, in the past two years Sahana has been balancing her studies in professional course preparation along with her dancing. She is blessed with a creative streak, which manifests in her interest in painting, design and caricature, with some of her dance-based caricatures, being featured on the home page of the renowned dance website www.narthaki.com.

She aspires to become a designer and pursue a bachelor's degree in HumanCentered Design and pursue her passion with classical dance along with her profession.
