Young innovators meet held in hyderabad city
Uppal: With the support of the National Council of Science and Technology Communications (NCSTC), a wing of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Network of Organizations for Science and Technology Communication (NOSTC) in association with Jana Vigana Vedika, organised a national-level event on 'Indian young inventors and innovators challenge – 2019' at Montfort Social Institute, Uppal.
Professor BN Reddy, retired professor of Osmania University and former president of Jana Vignana Vedika, explained the objectives of the programme and distributed the certificates and medals to the winners. Dr Sanjiv Sinha, general secretary, NOSTC, congratulated the participants on reaching this stage.
As many as 25 entries were received from each zone in three categories such as 'cub researchers' for those between 14 and 17, juvenile researchers for those between 18 and 21, and youth researchers for youth in age-group of 20-25, from four regions – Godhara West, Phagwara North, Dimapur East, and Hyderabad South – covering all the states and UTS of the entire country participating in this event.
Projects exhibited in the national-level competition by the young researchers were evaluated by the jury members and the outstanding ones were selected and rewarded.
The main objective of the programme is to encourage and motivate bright youth who have attempted bottom-up solutions for sustainable development. Solutions that respond to the local situations and interests and values for the community-initiatives that explore alternative forms of sustainable development.
Young innovators were encouraged to experiment using greener technologies in areas such as housing, renewable energy, food, and sustainable occupations and livelihoods. Such pioneers among the youth will be recognized at the event for sustainable solutions on a pilot basis.
Dr Mahtab S Bamji, former Director, NIN, Emiritus Scientist, Dr Y Nagesh Kumar, former Member-Secretary, APCOST, T Ramesh, vice-president of All India People's Science Network, former Governing board member, NOSTC, Professor Vijayalaxmi, a former Professor of Padmavathi Mahila University, Professor Koya Venkateshwra Rao, a former Professor of Osmania University, and R Varaprasad, general secretary of Jana Vignana Vedika-Telangana, were the guests of honor.
