Khammam: Irked over social media rumours, Thummala goes to police

Khammam: Upset over the social media posts alleging that he was switching party, former Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao filed a complaint with the police seeking action against those, responsible for these fake messages. He met Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal here on Wednesday and lodged a complaint naming a few persons responsible for the campaign against him. For the past few days several posts were shared on WhatsApp and Facebook groups in the district alleging that Nageswar Rao was going to join the BJP.

The former Minister in his complaint said that the social media posts were aimed to damage his personal as well as political image. Hence, he urged the police to take action against those responsible for the social media campaign and stop it.

Incidentally, the names - Bellamkonda Dilip, Shaik Saddam, Shaik Mukthar, Maduri Saidarao and Bollepalli Vijay, which Nageswar Rao mentioned in his complaint, were said to be TRS functionaries engaged in a social media campaign in favour of the party. Later speaking to the media, Nageswar Rao maintained that he never crossed party lines and worked for party growth and Khammam district. 'I have always been a trusted man to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The campaign against me was causing damage to the party also,' he added.

Mayor G Papalal and Rythu Vedika district convener Nallamala Venkateshwar Rao accompanied the former Minister.

Meanwhile, Additional DCP (Admin) Injarapu Pooja, who received the complaint, has alerted the Cybercrime wing to probe into the matter.
