Khammam: Rally to spread awareness on dangers of single use plastics held

Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has said that the State government was strictly adhering to banning use of single plastics in the State. Seeking peoples support for the cause, Puvvada expressed concern about the increasing use of plastic in the State, particularly in Khammam town where he said of the 5 ton garbage generated every day in Khammam, a larger amount of it makes up the plastic.

On Wednesday, the Minister flagged off an awareness rally at Sardar Patel Stadium in Khammam town organised by the NRI Parents and Lion Club of Diamonds. Addressing the rally, the Minister state that there was a threat to the environment due to use of single plastics in the coming up days. He urged people to use cloth bags or jute bags and also appreciated the traders who have shunned the use of plastic covers. Meanwhile, a large number of people took part in rally that ended at Jamalapuram village.
