Khammam: SUDA master plan for villages development

Khammam: As many as 46 villages of four constituencies in Khammam district are going to get face lift in the coming days as the Sthambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) is preparing a master plan to develop these villages in all aspects for the next two decades.

People living in these villages are expressing happy for including their villages in SUDA limits. Except a few, almost all the 46 villages were underdeveloped till now, but the SUDA is going to change their scenario, stated K Rama Rao, senior citizen of Raghunadhapalem village. Villages would get roads, drainages, central lighting, drinking water and all other facilities due to their inclusion in SUDA. Land prices will also shoot up and living style will change, observed N Krishna, resident of Wyra town.

The Master Plan will help to spur the growth of Khammam city and its surrounding areas that fall under SUDA, spread over an area of 557.5 square yards, said SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar.

The Centre for Symbiosis of Technology, Environment and Management (STEM) is preparing the data of Khammam to develop the Master Plan based on geographic information system (GIS) mapping.

The survey data will be collected regarding land-use, roads, traffic and transportation, streetlights, drainage, water resources and infrastructure facilities and others. A format with 18 questions is being used for the survey.

Earlier Master Plan prepared for Khammam municipality will expire in December. Hence the new Master Plan to address future development needs of the city and its people is being drafted, Vijay Kumar said.

The new draft Master Plan is likely to be notified by Sankranthi festival for receiving public objections and suggestions. The final notification will take place in March 2021, he added.

The draft Master Plan will comprise data on industrial, residential, commercial, recreation zones and the widening of roads wherever it is required will be proposed. The data from various government departments is being collected, he added.
