Heavy rains lash out Tirumala

It has been raining heavily in Tirumala for the last two days from morning till night. Devotees of Tirumala Srivari are in serious trouble with this torrential rain while Saptagiris are drenched in the incessant rain. Devotees who go to the Vaikuntham Complex for the Srivari Darshan, as well as those who come after the Darshan, are drenched in rain. Premature rains inundated the low-lying areas of Tirupati and the seven hills are wet with the rain that has been pouring non-stop for two days. Landslides are breaking out at several places on the first and second ghat roads due to heavy rains in Tirumala.

Heavy boulders fell on the road at the 54th turn of First Ghat Road on Sunday midnight. Immediately alert officers removed the huge boulders. Authorities said no one was injured as vehicles were not allowed during the night. However, motorists travelling on the Ghat Road are advised to drive more cautiously.

Meanwhile, with the surface periodicity formed in the Komarin region extends to the southwestern Bay of Bengal near the southern coast, heavy rains expected in Andhra Pradesh. It continues at an altitude of 3.1 km above sea level. With this effect, light to moderate rains are expected in the state today and tomorrow, officials said. Heavy rains were forecasted in one or two places on the south coast as well on Monday.
