Tirupati: Home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha said Disha police stations have been set up in all district with all facilities as the government is according top priority to women safety. Addressing the police officials on the concluding session of AP Police Duty Meet 2020 IGNITE here on Thursday, she said the the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had effected several changing in policing in the state in terms launching Police Seva, Disha and other apps to bring the police services to the doorstep of people.

"First time in India, AP Disha Police Stations received ISO certification. Earlier Nellore Disha police station and now Tirupati station got the certificates for effectively investigating the women's cases. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given a free hand to police in discharging their duties in an impartial and transparent manner," she said.

Sucharitha said investigation time has come down from 110 days to 58 days due to the changed tenor of police functioning. Apart from this, AP police introduced zero FIR system in registration of cases under which victims can lodge complaint at any police station in case of emergency. It is one of the major changes in police functioning, she said adding that for effective functioning of Disha Police Stations, the government has provided forensic labs and required computers, vehicles, etc.,

The home minister called upon the police to adopt latest technology in investigation of cases to solve them fast and ensure justice to victims.

Earlier, principal secretary, women and child welfare, A R Anuradha in her speech said that our police set up was 10 years behind in using technology in collecting evidence compared to the West. She urged the home minister to support the department in acquiring the new technology and equipment. She said that police have been working amid many challenges for safeguarding the people's lives and properties.

In the first AP Police Duty Meet after the bifurcation of the state, Anantapur Range police stood first and received the overall champ trophy winning various events like case analysis and investigation, forensic science.

TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy and Rajamahendravaram MP Bharath Ram and other police officials also spoke at the meeting.
