SPMVV to hold counselling for PG courses admission

Tirupati: Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), the only women's university in the two Telugu states, is all set to commence admission process for first year students from Monday. The university has conducted PGCET on October 11 which was delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic this year and the results have been declared on October 15. More than 90 per cent of students were qualified in the CET held at five centres including Hyderabad.

The university offers about 35 courses in MSc., M Vocational courses, MA, Master of Social Work, Master of Physical Education, MCJ, M Com, BA/MA in Public Policy and Anthropology among other courses. This year MSc in clinical psychology and counselling psychology courses are being introduced with 30 seats in each course.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the university authorities have made elaborate arrangements for counselling which will be held during December 7 – 17. Accordingly, the counselling will be held at two different venues for admissions into science and arts courses. Those seeking admission in various science courses will have to attend the process at Indira Priyadarshini auditorium as per the schedule sent to the candidates.

The counselling for various arts courses will be held at Saaveri seminar hall in the campus. The process will be held from 9 am to 4 pm daily, said the Director of Admissions Prof P Suvarnalatha Devi. After completion of admissions, the first semester students will have online classes only in view of the Covid. For practicals, they need to come to the campus at a later stage. She said hostel accommodation will be provided for those required.

It may be noted that several courses offered by the university are having international collaborations. The students will have all facilities on campus itself like gym, bank, ATM, health centre and post office. It is having a placement cell as well which helps the students in securing good job opportunities.
