Tirupati Municipal Corporation sounds alert on persons with UK travel history
Tirupati: In the wake of muted coronavirus strain detected in the United Kingdom, Tirupati Municipal Corporation officials sounded alert in the temple city on Wednesday. MCT Commissioner PS Girisha held an urgent meeting over taking necessary precautionary measures in this regard in the city. In the meeting, the Commissioner instructed the officials to keep vigil on those persons, who had UK travel history in the last one week. Speaking to media, he said so far, we did not receive any communication from the state government over UK travel history persons. Moreover, the Government of India imposed a ban on UK flights, he pointed out.
"We initiated all precautionary measures to monitor the situation if anyone is identified with UK travel history. Our health ANMs are ready to conduct a door to door survey to find out if anyone is suffering from Corona suspected symptoms with UK travel history," he said.
In the meeting, the Commissioner asked the officials concerned to exchange the information properly to prevent the second wave of corona.
It may be noted that Chennai and Bengaluru cities are not far away. So, there is every chance that UK travelled history persons may travel either from Chennai or Bengaluru to Tirupati. Previously the first coronavirus case was detected in Srikalahasti town 8 months ago. With that experience, MCT officials sounded alert to the officials concerned.
