Tirupati: SVU PG Students awaits for Vidya Deevena, Vasathi Deevena scholarships
SV University hundreds of PG students could not get Vidya Deevena as well as Vasathi Deevena scholarship for the year of 2019 academic year. Due to covid-19 pandemic, after 8 months university was reopened, in this backdrop, authorities started insisting the students pay the college fees and hostel mess fees. It may be noted that most of the students from SC, ST, BC as well as economically backward students have been pursuing their studies depending upon AP state government welfare scholarships. Around 1000 students are pursuing PG studies in SV University from above said backward communities.
In the meanwhile, the government could not release the students' scholarships in time, due to which students did not pay the fees and hostel mess bills too. And they are waiting for Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena scholarships. But varsity authorities have started insisting the students for paying fees overdue.
Two days ago University SFI leaders had submitted a representation to its registrar Prof. Sridhar Reddy and requested to extend the deadline for payment of a fee in view of the delay in releasing scholarships by the state government. According to information, around 60 lakh students scholarships were pending in the State Government.
Both 1 and 2 years PG students are suffering a lot with the adamant attitude of University Officials. SFI District Secretary N Madhav Krishna told The Hans India that already on this burning issue we submitted a memorandum to the Registrar. Due to lower-income, their parent's many students are unable to pay the fee from their pockets. The only solution is to consider the students' demand for paying fees after getting scholarships, he added.
