Tirupati: UPSC Civils prelims exams conducted peacefully
Tirupati: Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Preliminary– 2023 was held peacefully on Sunday in two sessions. It was held in 13 centres in Tirupati city from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. District Collector K Venkataramana Reddy and state observer and R&B Secretary PS Pradyumna monitored the examinations.
The Collector said that out of 6,333 candidates allotted for Tirupati city in 13 centres, only 3,358 candidates attended the morning session which was 53.02 percent. The afternoon session witnessed 52.57 percent attendance with 3,329 candidates taking the examination. Question papers were shifted to the examination centres amid tight security from the strong room under the supervision of custodian and RDO V Kanaka Narasa Reddy.
Following the guidelines of UPSC, candidates were allowed into the examination centre at 8.30 am and 1.30 pm. All amenities like transport facility, medical camps and drinking water were provided for the convenience of candidates.
State observer Pradyumna said that the examination was held in a foolproof manner with the coordination of district machinery. The examinations were monitored by two UPSC observers also. As several candidates have reached Tirupati from neighbouring districts to attend the examinations, all arrangements were made for them with the help of police, RTC and other departments. Help desk was also provided at the RTC central bus station.
Soon after the completion of examinations, the OMR sheets were sent to the head post office under tight security. Meanwhile, the district administration and state observer held review meetings with the chief superintendents and other officials last week to review the arrangements and gave directions to them for the smooth conduct of examinations.
