ARMS student gets silver in Dubai sports meet

Vijayawada: Mukkamala Niharika, student of Autism Research and Multi-Disciplinary School (ARMS) of Vijayawada emerged as the winner in the cycling event at the Athlete meet 'Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019' held at Abu Dhabi (Dubai). The athlete meet was held from March 14 to 21. Niharika won silver in two events and secured 6th place in cycling event at the meet.

Speaking on the occasion, M Bhargavi (Niharika's mother) said that as many as 285 students participated in the Summer Games at Dubai and Bhargavi was the only participant from AP in the cycling event.

She said, "Niharika won silver medal in 500 metres and 1000 metres cycling event and secured 6th place in 2K cycling event. She was very good at sports since childhood. Earlier in 2015, she participated in Unified Volleyball tournament held at Los Angeles, USA and the team won Bronze medal."

ARMS principal Dr Sindhuma expressed her delight and congratulated Niharika on her achievement and said that differently-abled people have hidden talent in some or the other filed and we have to identify their talent and support them to excel in that field. The school staff and others congratulated Niharika on winning the international medal.
