Nine-member task force to oversee coronavirus vaccination in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: In an attempt to speed up the process to distribute Covid-19 vaccine particularly in urban areas, the State government formed the task force with nine members headed by the Municipal Commissioner in the city.
It may be recalled that the government had already formed task forces at the State and mandal level. Changing the pattern of the State task force, the government issued orders on Monday including six more members in it making it 16 members. Likewise, the district-level task forces also will have 34 members henceforth.
It is apt to recall that the training for ANMs, health workers and volunteers was started after the completion of training for medical officers. In the next phase, the private medical personnel would be given training for the distribution of vaccines.
According to the health department officials, the medical personnel were told to observe four issues — verification, registration, vaccination and observation. The targeted persons would be taken to the vaccination centres with separate entrance and exit.
The names of the targeted persons' would be verified with the list and after confirmation they would be sent for the registration.
Later, they will be administered vaccine and make them sit for half-an-hour to seen any adverse effects. Subsequently, they would be sent home.
The vaccinated persons would be observed for a few days at their homes.
It is said that about 580 centres would be set up in Vijayawada urban region out of the proposed 2,580 centres across Krishna district.
