Varla Ramaiah urges EC to take action against Sakshi newspaper

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party General Secretary Varla Ramaiah submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi on Sunday asking the latter to take action against Telugu daily, the Sakshi newspaper, alleging that the newspaper was not following the Election Commission norms and publishing defamatory and derogatory news against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

In the letter submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer, the TDP leader said that the Sakshi paper carried a news item with caption 'Narasura Raktha Charitra' on Sunday alleging that Chandrababu Naidu was behind the faction murders taking place in Rayalaseema region.

Ramaiah alleged that the Sakshi paper was not following the election norms and publishing news to defame Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that the Sakshi paper run by the Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was trying to incite violence in the society and publishing biased news.

Ramaiah appealed to the CEO to initiate strict action against Sakshi and restrain the newspaper from publishing derogatory news items, which is against the Election model code of conduct.
